Spoken Faith

3 01 2009

Passage:  Matthew 8:1-13

Points:

1.  Words of faith reveal our trust in Christ’s ability to heal and to save.

2.  Our testimony provides evidence to others.

3.  Words of faith reveal our commitment to Christ’s authority.

4.  Faith in the person and power of Christ will move the hand of God.

Personalize:

“Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.” (v.2)  ”Just say the word and my servant will be healed.” (v.8)

These statements from the man with leprosy and the centurion reveal their true faith.  Their spoken word revealed their inner faith and trust in the ability of Christ to heal.  Our words reveal a great deal of what we believe about Christ.  Do we speak words of worry, doubt, criticism, or cynicism?  These words reveal our true nature and how we see the world around us.  When we speak words of hope, love, and faith it reveals our full trust in Christ and His ability to heal and transform.

Christ affirmed the words of faith and moved to action.  He healed the man with leprosy and the servant of the centurion.  If we want to see the hand of God move within our lives, we must speak on His behalf.  We must give testimony of the ability and character of Christ.  As we speak the words revealing our faith in Christ alone it will bring attention and praise to Him and His abilities.  As we give Christ honor, He will move to reveal His true nature and power in our life.

Prayer:

Lord may our lips and lives reveal our full trust in You and You alone.  When others hear our words may You receive all the praise You are due.  Lord, we trust in you to heal and to save and we give our full confidence in Your ability and desire to change our lives for Your glory and praise.  May faith be the by-product of the words of our mouth.
