Personalize
As we begin our time of prayer and searching, let us ask the Lord to cause us to hunger for His presence . We are seeking to see His work be accomplished in our lives, families, congregations, and communities. We do not ask just to receive, but to be changed. “It happens so easily. We seek God so desperately when we need something from him, but conveniently exclude him when pursuing our own ambitions or wisdom. We want him nearby, at church or in our private devotions, so we can get to him when we need him, but we don’t want him lording over every area of our lives.” (Wayne Jacobsen, A Passion for God’s Presence)
In this season of prayer, we seek to be under the lordship of Jesus Christ and allow his agenda to be at the forefront of our thoughts, prayers, and actions. We are looking for a change; A change in direction, a change in thoughts, a change in purpose, and a change in our pursuits. Our prayers will create in us a desire to pursue more of God. As we pray, we find out our agenda and paths need to be adjusted to those of Christ. We begin to hunger for more of God because we realize the greatest pursuit is our pursuit of a more intimate relationship with Him. We desire to discover his ways and his paths for our lives. As we follow his paths, we will have the Lord as our companion along the way.
Prayer
Lord, we yield to your leadership within our lives. We seek you in prayer to allow you to make the changes in us you desire. Give us a hunger to know you and to hunger after your presence and guidance. “Show us your ways, O LORD, teach us your paths; guide us in your truth and teach me…” Change us.
