Passage: John 17:20-26
Points:
1. Jesus prayed for his disciples and future believers.
2. Jesus has given us his glory, so we may be one as the Son and Father are one.
3. When we are unified, the world will know Jesus was sent from the Father and He is in us.
Personalize
Unity is an essential part of our witness to the world. When others look at us and see disunity and dissatisfaction they are unable to see the unity of the Son and the Father. Oneness is more than agreeing, it is being unified in who Jesus Christ is and how he revealed himself to us. We have different views concerning social issues and religious ideologies, but the one area we must agree is our commitment to Jesus Christ. We must agree Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, paid the penalty for our sins, rose from the grave and he resides in heaven for eternity. We agree Jesus is the only way to the Father and there is no other way. Our oneness is found in Jesus Christ alone.
Prayer
Jesus, may our church fellowships reveal our commitment to You. In a world of differing opinions, we agree You are the only way to salvation and eternal life. Lord, may Your Spirit direct our communities and may the way we live reveal our love for one another and for You. Lord be revealed in us as we show others we are one and You are the source of our oneness.
