Unwaivering Commitment

11 02 2009

Passage:  Matthew 10:32-39

Points:

1.  If we acknowledge Christ before others, He will acknowledges us before our heavenly Father.

2.  Jesus did not come to bring peace, but a sword.  The follower of Christ must be committed to Him more than his own family.

3.  We are not worthy of Christ if we do not take up our cross and follow.  If we loose our life for His sake we will find life.

Personalize

Jesus has made it very clear.  We must choose who we will serve.  Will we pursue the comforts of home or family or will we pursue the commitment of the cross?  If we deny Christ, He will deny us; but if we take up our cross and follow we will find the true life Christ offers.  The Lord has created the family, but our family relationships should not stand in the way of our service in His kingdom.  Once we have said yes to follow Christ there is no turning back in our commitment.  Our choice is to move forward with Him and not be distracted by the other relationships in our lives.

Prayer

Lord reveal your purpose for us.  May we not be distracted from carrying our cross.  When our life mission is complete, let it be said of us:  “they proclaimed Christ and did not waiver or faulter.
