Read Psalm 84
The Pilgrim’s Motivation
When you think of being in God’s presence, what images come to mind? How would you describe the dwelling place of God?
How would you describe your desire for God; as a longing and thirst or as a routine? What needs to change concerning your desire for God?
Pray the prayer AW Tozer prays:
“O God, I have tasted Thy goodness, and it has both satisfied me and made me thirsty for more. I am painfully conscious of my need for further grace. I am ashamed of my lack of desire. O God, the Triune God, I want to want Thee; I long to be filled with longing; I thirst to be made more thirsty still. Show me Thy glory, I pray Thee, so that I may know Thee indeed. Begin in mercy a new work of love within me. Say to my soul, ‘Rise up my love, my fair one, and come away.’ Then give me grace to rise and follow Thee up from this misty lowland where I have wandered so long.” A.W. Tozer
The Pilgrim’s Journey
The journey can take us through dry places, how does God refresh you in the difficult places in life?
Pray that The Lord will bring refreshment within your life as you pursue Him.
The Pilgrim’s Protection
Express your thanksgiving to God for Him being your “sun” in the times of darkness and “shield” in the midst of distress.
Express your joy and excitement for being in the presence of God. As the Psalmist expresses: “For a day in your courts is better than a thousand elsewhere. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness.”
