9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night: a man of Macedonia was standing there, urging him and saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” 10 And when Paul had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go on into Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them. Acts 16:9-10
Paul, accompanied by Timothy, attempted to preach in Bithynia, but the “Spirit of Jesus” would not allow them. So being led by the Spirit they made their way to Troas. It was in Troas that Paul had a dream. In the dream a man from Macedonia was urging Paul to come over to Macedonia and help them.
This passage is often referred to the “Macedonian call”. Led by the Holy Spirit Paul and Timothy followed the call to go. How powerful it is to consider being led in every area of our lives by the Holy Spirit. Where He leads we go and where he says stay we stay. It should be our desire to not move forward or pursue a destination without the affirmation of the Holy Spirit.
Lord, may we be so in tuned with your Holy Spirit that we move only in rhythm with His leading. Reveal to us our “Macedonia call” so we may be in step with your will and purpose in our ministry.
