Gospel Priority

But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God. Acts 20:24

Paul is saying good bye to the Ephesian elders as he prepares to go to Jerusalem. He warns them of trials to come and those who will seek to lead the church in Ephesus astray. In going he is unaware what lies before him, yet he has never stood down when facing opposition. He does not count his life as important but only the gospel message that he proclaims.

Do we step down from the opportunities to share the gospel because of the personal cost it may mean for us. We are concerned about our reputation or comfort more than the cause of the gospel. May we, like Paul, be willing to set aside personal needs in order to accomplish the course God sets before us.

Lord accomplish your purpose in me. Give me the undying commitment to finish the course you have set before me.
