Rather they had certain points of dispute with him about their own religion and about a certain Jesus, who was dead, but whom Paul asserted to be alive. Acts 25:19
The Jewish leaders continue to make plans to kill Paul. If Paul traveled to Jerusalem the plan was to ambush and kill him. Paul chose to be judged by the king and remain in Rome. While speaking with Agrippa, Felix shared with him the conflict, the religious leaders claimed Jesus was dead but Paul “asserted to be alive”.
The foundation of our Christian life is that we serve a risen Savior. “And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain.” 1 Corinthians 15:14. Paul’s foundation was on the resurrection of Christ and it provided boldness to stand for the truth, even in the midst of ridicule and persecution.
Lord, stir us to walk in fellowship with you and to stand firm on your resurrection. For it is in the resurrection that we experience the power to live.
