23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God’s righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. Romans 3:23-25 ESV
Paul points out that our works of righteousness does not change our position before God because we have “all sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. Our forgiveness and justification comes through the gift of forgiveness and righteousness provides by the sacrificial death of Christ. It is a gift God has provided through the work of Christ alone.
Christ is the way in which we receive forgiveness for our wayward life and sinfulness. It is in Christ alone that we find redemption and are justified to stand before a holy and righteous God. Today may we respond to this gift with gratitude and to live our lives in honor of the one who gave His life on our behalf, Jesus Christ.
We are grateful for the gift of forgiveness and righteousness we have received through Jesus Christ. May we live in honor of Christ who gave His life for ours. We stand in His righteousness not our own.
