13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. – James 5:13-15 ESV
There is a response to the various circumstances in life. If suffering we pray; if cheerful we sing praise; and if we are sick we call the elders to come and pray for us. The prayer of faith will heal the sick and bring forgiveness for the sinner.
In every circumstance of life we need to turn to our Heavenly Father with prayers or praise. In the disappointments of life it is easy to become discouraged if we do not turn to the source of our strength Jesus Christ. He knows the struggles we face and the troubles we experience. So in times of suffering and sickness let’s turn our attention to our Lord who can heal and restore.
In the cheerful days when it seems all is going well let us give our Lord the praise He deserves. In the good days let us be reminded that all good gifts come from Him and He is to be praised.
I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. Psalms 34:1
Heavenly Father, we praise you at all times. With our mouth may you be exalted. We turn to you both in our days of struggle and days of joy.
