“Go to the ant, O sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise. Without having any chief, officer, or ruler, she prepares her bread in summer and gathers her food in harvest.” Proverbs 6:6-8 ESV
This is a message to the sluggard. Consider the ant, she, on her own, chooses to gather bread in the summer and food in the harvest.
Proverbs gives those who are passive and have no personal motivation to improve their condition to consider the ant. The ant, without someone else guiding them, chooses to collect food in times of harvest for the lean times of winter. The ant’s drive is one of instinct and no one is needed to motivate them for the task of food collection. May we live life with drive to glorify God and set aside passiity with the decisions set before us.
Stir us to live the life you have prepared for us. Motivate us not to become passive and miss the daily opportunities you set before us.
