Wounds and Disgrace

“He who commits adultery lacks sense; he who does it destroys himself. He will get wounds and dishonor, and his disgrace will not be wiped away.”  Proverbs‬ ‭6:32-33‬ ‭ESV‬

Adultery in a person’s life will result in destruction. It will leave him with wounds, dishonor, and disgrace. Whoever chooses it reveals their lack of sense.

Marriage is a sacred bond between a man, woman, and the Lord. This union is to be protected and nourished. Adultery destroys this bond and results in wounds that take time to heal. Families who have been impacted by adultery can experience reconciliation but it requires a great amount of time to rebuild the trust that has been broken.  The wounds of the broken relationship will lead to dishonor and disgrace for both spouses involved. The way to healing requires humility, strength from the Lord, and the counsel and support of others who can help.

Father may you strengthen us to keep our marriage vows. May we always keep in mind the destruction adultery can bring so we will always remain true to the blessed marriage we have been given. Lord remind us of the gift of our spouse and may we never take for granted the love and support we receive.
