“A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold.” Proverbs 22:1 ESV
A good name or reputation is better than riches; and favor is better than silver or gold.
A good reputation takes consistency and time to develop. As we live our lives before others and reveal our true character then we begin to build a reputation and an outward image to those around us. Of course true character is developed from inward strength and commitment. When we live consistency before others over time then a reputation is developed. As Proverbs states, this reputation is better then obtaining quick riches which may cause a questionable character. Let us seek the consistent reputation of one who remains true to the cause and character of Christ.
Lord, may I find favor in your eyes which is more valuable than silver or gold. May my consistent walk reveal a godly reputation before others.
